Kels O’Sullivan is an artist with a foundation in design and illustration. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, her work is characterised by aesthetically balanced compositions that are emotive and conceptually layered. Utilising geometry, colour, pattern, line, and repetition, she investigates the symbolic potential of everyday forms, the articulation of emotion, and the interplay between experience and environment.
Her current body of work presents a visual inquiry into the aspects of shadow and reflection across both built and natural landscapes, while conceptually addressing notions of temporality, transformation and introspection.
The shifting dynamics of light and shadow shape these spaces, creating conversations between transformation, movement and stillness. Through geometric compositions and meticulous mark-making, she uses repetition to evoke ideas of change, while variations in shape and texture convey a sense of solidity and continuity. Each piece conceptualises a layered meaning, with ambiguous title offering a subtle narrative to invite self reflection and personal interpretation from the audience.
Aside from her fine art pursuits, Kels is an award-winning illustrator and graphic designer.
